China provincial park names Crater Lake “sister park”

On Feb. 25, 2015 representatives from Oregon, the U.S. National Parks Service and China’s Fujian Province signed an agreement to make Crater Lake National Park and Wuyishan National Scenic Area international sister parks. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Wuyishan National Scenic Area is located near the border of the northern Fujian and Jiangxi provinces. craterlaketrust.org/china-sister-park

Crater Lake Science and Learning Center

In collaboration with the Oregon Institute of Technology and Southern Oregon University, the Crater Lake Science and Learning Center opened in 2006 to provide scientists, teachers, students and artists access to Crater Lake’s natural world as a laboratory and a classroom. nps.gov/crla/slc.htm

Crater Lake Institute

The Crater Lake Institute’s sole purpose is to “enhance the visitor experience through educational activities including field seminars, professional workshops and research projects,” specifically about Crater Lake National Park. craterlakeinstitute.com

Britt Music and Arts Festival

A scenic two-hour drive southwest from Crater Lake, the Britt Music and Arts Festival, located in Jackson, Oregon, is the Northwest’s premier outdoor summer performing venue. Set among madrone and ponderosa pines, this natural amphitheater hosts thousands of music lovers each summer. brittfest.org

Oregon Shakespeare Festival

Established in 1935 in Ashland, Oregon, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival is host to a diversity of plays ranging from Shakespeare to modern day playwrights from February to October each year. A beautiful 90-minute drive southwest from Crater Lake, it’s well-worth the visit. osfashland.org
