Lucky for you and Rover, the Tillamook Coast is nothing if not dog-friendly.

Tillamook, located on the Oregon Coast about 55 miles west of Portland, offers a unique beach getaway where many of the inns welcome canine companions. We’ve compiled a few of our favorite spots and we’re sure your pup will be barking to come back soon!

Inn at Manzanita

Nestled among coastal pine and spruce trees in Manzanita, a beautiful 25-mile coastline drive north of Tillamook, the Inn at Manzanita is an ideal spot for a couple’s getaway thanks to the romantic nature of each room. The Inn also offers two rooms in its main building designated for those traveling with pets.

Dogs love the short walk to the beach and fabulous coastal hiking. The adventurous hike up Neahkahnie Mountain is a favorite for two- and four-legged hikers and offers phenomenal views of the coastline.

You and your pooch will love the tranquil, garden-like environment of the Inn that will make you forget that you’re anywhere near civilization.

Sheltered Nook on Tillamook Bay

This charming bed-and-breakfast in Bay City, just north of the town of Tillamook, is perfect for the environmentally conscious traveler who is looking to escape into a simpler, more sustainable time.

Sheltered Nook offers three unique rooms, all of which are dog-friendly. The Nest is the largest room with a private entrance and its own garden patio and secluded, enclosed outdoor shower. The other two, the Bay and Garden Rooms, are inside the main house and share a bathroom.

A delicious breakfast is cooked every morning by owner Dee Harguth and a living room/game room with a pool table and big-screen TV is available if the call of the great outdoors doesn’t lure you outside.

Inn at Cape Kiwanda

Only a short but scenic 25-mile drive south of the town of Tillamook is the little beach town of Pacific City which is dog-friendly simply by nature. The three miles of beach offer plenty of space for dogs to run, explore and play in the surf.

Just across from the beach, and the award-winning Pelican Brewery, is the Inn at Cape Kiwanda where half its 35 rooms are dog-friendly. Five of the 18 cottages on the beach side also welcome Rover for the night.

The Inn offers your pup a cozy blanket, towel, water, food bowl and doggie biscuits. Every resident also gets a letter from “Sophie,” the resident dog ambassador, who helps each pooch understand the lay of the land—like where to go when they need to go, and some great nearby areas to stretch their legs. There’s even an outdoor area to wash your fur-baby with warm water to help keep your pet comfortable and clean.
